Detention Centres.
Tolya was arrested for stealing in Moscow. It was soon discovered that he had travelled hundreds of miles to escape a brutal father. He started to learn new skills at the detention centre and is returning to live with his grandmother in Vladivostok.
Tanya had been ‘sold’ by her father for a bottle of vodka and used as prostitute since the age of eight. In desperation after several years of trying to escape she committed other crimes in order to be arrested. She will need psychological help but with care it is hoped she will be able to return to normal life again.
Facts: Over the years Love Russia has been able to help in many ways including providing psychologists for traumatised children, practical help in the form of clothing, beds, recreational items and also computers and photocopiers to help speed up the process of moving the children into orphanages or back home.
One of the largest expenditures for the officers is the cost of travelling with children to repatriate them. Love Russia sees this of primary importance for the welfare of the children.
